The recent recalls of the 2.0 Ecoboost don't seem to have impacted my order. Also, a friendly reminder that for $1,695, plus dealer installation cost, you can buy an intake, exhaust, ECU reflash and set of spark plugs from Ford Racing that will bring you up to 300 horsepower without putting a dent in your factory warranty.

Is that too much power for the front wheels? Well, considering how stock this car puts out too much power for the front wheels, yes. Does that matter? No. Not at all.

O_O

I was not aware of this. Perhaps I need to increase my budget for my next car and strongly consider an ST...

You failed to mention the stock hp of 252, not all of us are obsessed with this car :p

48hp for $1700 is a fucking deal!

Right now Ford is offering nice incentives on 2014 models, 1500 off on an ST2. I got mine through Costco, and with their discount, I'm getting an Oxford White ST2 with nav and Rado Gray wheels for $25,344 before TTL, down from a list price of $28,015.

Seriously, JOIN US! Half of Oppo is already driving one ST or another. And my god, the Focus is amazing. It is so unbelievably good. It has slightly less power than the big bang and if it wasn't for the torque steer, you could tell me that it was RWD and I'd believe you. The chassis is so amazingly tail-happy and nimble.

I know, right! Especially for a fully-warrantied 48 horsepower.

You should just get randy to tune your car, 500 for a cobb AP, plus support for any other mods you do. I have read on a FoST forum that you will not get support from.FRPP, and your warnty will be through FRPP.

I would check focusst.org and read people's reviews. That visa unless you haven't already.

I never really thought the car needed more power on the test drive that made me go "I'm going to buy this", but hey, 48 horses for 1700 bucks is hard to argue with.

I am on focusst.org, and there aren't any local shops that do Cobb parts.

1700 over the life of a loan, ain't much. :)

I would like to test my car against a stage, 1, 2, and 3 modified ST. Just curious how it progressively gets faster, harder to drive, etc.

Speaking of "hard to drive", my favorite thing about my test drive of the FoST was how it felt "hard to drive" in a way that made you aware that it actually wasn't. It was like driving your first really powerful car in Gran Turismo, but in a good way.

Here's the Fiesta parts selection. It mostly seems focused on the B-Spec cars.

it's UP to 48 hp gain in some areas of the curve. There is NO peak hp gain, there is some torque added but don't expect 300 hp. A tune from randy at mountune will still pull away from you up top as his tune adds power up top and a higher rev limiter(7200). Also that kit is on sale for 1499 which is a steal for nice parts. First google search I did showed it. I did a fswerks FMIC, intake and tune with even colder plugs than this kits and would easily walk away from you for less...I do want an exhaust though...good luck have fun!

This is a fantastic comment. That is why I ruled it out. At Road Ameica, I need power farther up the rev range, not down low. That might be good for autocross, but usually not a track. I just wish my overboost would stay on. That'd be a good start. I watch and feel it kick out really early in 3rd gear all the time, so I have to short shift.

I thought it reduced the warranty to 3/36 for powertrain instead of 5/60

Its a new warranty, not your factory one. The new warranty has a max pay limit of $7000 which wont even cover the engine if that happens to go. Basically look a lot deeper into the purchase, I was going to buy it for mine in till I read all the stipulations.

Many good deals to be had on them right now, I paid 24.7k before ttl for my '14 ST3 with rado wheels and no sunroof . List price was a hair under 30k.

You are missing the point if you're not doing an intercooler. The car simply cannot cope with it and your HP gains go away after a pull or two.

GET AN INTERCOOLER NAO

You uh, do know that MOUNTUNE parts now carry a FULL Ford Racing Parts warranty?
There was a press release about it like two months ago.
I am sorry but that has to be one of the crudest looking tuners currently on the market, it looks like the Gen I SCT XCal I used for a 1995 Thunderbird.
Again, without an intercooler, you are REALLY missing the gains to be had and hurting your long term reliability.
MOUNTUNE IC...

I do COBB stuff myself but you seem concerned with warranty compliance, so I thought I'd point out that Mountune stuff is fully warranty compliant.

My Fiesta ST will be rocking full COBB stuff - check out the install video on the OverbooST.Productions youtube channel.

Yes, Mountune offers a full assortment of Fiesta ST upgrades, and in case you missed the official press release from Ford a month or two ago all MOUNTUNE products are now fully FoMoCo Warranty Compliant and are considered the same as Ford Racing Parts.
